The EMSP Young People’s Network is going to the European Youth Event

25.04.2023

The Young People’s Network of EMSP will be attending the 2023 European Youth Event, where they will be organizing an interactive activity aiming to raise awareness about three of the most pressing issues of our time: the environment, health, and security by featuring their unique life stories.

The European Youth Event

The European Youth Event (EYE) is a biennial event that brings together thousands of young people from all over the region to discuss and shape the future of Europe. The event offers a unique opportunity for young people to meet, exchange ideas, and take part in a range of activities, including debates, workshops, and cultural events.

The 2023 European Youth Event will be held in Strasbourg, France, and is expected to attract over 10,000 young people from all over Europe. The theme of the event is “Youth for a Stronger Europe,” and it will focus on a range of topics, including climate change, social justice, democracy, and technology.

At the event, participants will have the opportunity to engage with policymakers, youth organizations, and other young people from different countries and backgrounds. They will be able to voice their opinions on issues that affect their lives and participate in a range of activities that will help them develop new skills and knowledge. EMSP’s Young People’s Network will be able to have a say in what we, people living with MS, need and want from the future of Europe.

The Young People’s Network will be organizing an interactive activity called “ACT! Activists Cut Through.” This activity aims to raise awareness about three of the most pressing issues of our time: the environment, health, and security while showcasing their unique connection to life with Multiple Sclerosis. ACT! will help in raising awareness of the condition in itself as well as help participants in seeing how interconnected MS and our society are.

Participants will be invited to join an interactive Human Library, where they will have the opportunity to choose the cause most relevant to them and engage in discussions with activists. The Human Library will feature “human books”, or in other words young people with MS, that will share their unique stories, their connection to the cause, and the need for the EU to address these issues from the perspective of the next generation. Eight of our members will be attending the EYE organising the activity and helping in raising awareness of the needs of the MS community.

The aim of the activity is to encourage participants to have their say and ACT now on these critical issues. By engaging in open discussions and listening to the experiences of others, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of taking action on these topics as well as what it means to live with MS in a changing world.
